2.2.2 TO-BE Model
1
Develop a "TO-BE" BPMN process model that captures your process improvements. Clearly highlight how your to-be process model is different from your as-is process model (e.g., you can color the different elements in your model and/or describe the main changes). Pay special attention to the role of technology (e.g., whether specific tasks can be automated).
3. Process Description
Student A needs to borrow from university library in next four weeks. Student A submits a request (F2F or electronic) to borrow the book.
Sometime later, Student A receives a status update indicating that the book is loaned out/not available for a loan or available for pick up.
If the book is loaned out, student A can decide to either to cancel the request, if it is loaned out for over four weeks and the process ends with student A cancelling the request, or if the book is on loan for three (or less) weeks, student A can place a request for reservation hold.
After three weeks, student A receives a status update saying that the book is available for pick up. The process ends with student A receiving the book on a four-week loan.
If the book is not available at the university library, student A can submit interlibrary loan (ILL) request. ILL request is sent to nearby libraries, processed, and replied to by nearby librarians. Once ILL request is processed, student A receives status update indicating whether the book is available for ILL.
If the book is available for ILL, student A needs to submit a request to borrow the book from another library via university library. Once the book is at the university library, student A receives a status update indicating that the book is available for a pickup at the university library. The process ends with student A receiving the book on a four- week loan.
If the book is not available for ILL, student A can cancel the request.
If the book is available for loan, student A needs to submit an order to borrow the book
and the process ends with student A receiving the book on a four-week loan.
