For your HL110 portfolio projects, you will create and design four chapters of a hospitality leadership guidebook based on each course of the Hospitality Leadership program. The purpose of the guidebook is to assist hospitality organization managers in improving their personal competence to become more effective leaders in the industry.

During the Great Resignation in the midst of the COVID pandemic, many people voluntarily left their jobs. Now that most travel restrictions have been reversed, guest numbers in hotels and restaurants have largely increased. However, many large hospitality companies struggle to fill employment vacancies. Some companies have already resorted to automated or partly automated recruitment in order to achieve speed and market agility in recruitment.

For Portfolio Project 1 you will look into the new opportunities that digitalization has brought into recruitment as well as explore the advantages and disadvantages of new technology in the hiring process.

1. Do research online and find at least 3 ways that recruitment has become more digital. Briefly describe in your own words these 3 methods in at least 1 paragraph (4-6 sentences).

2. Think about and explain your opinion on which steps of the hiring process in hospitality cannot or should not be digitized and why. Write at least 1 paragraph (4-6 sentences).

3. Write 2 paragraphs (4-6 sentences each) to answer the following questions about using digital technology in recruitment:

In your opinion, how will digitalization and new technology impact hospitality recruitment?

Provide specific examples that illustrate the advantages and disadvantages of digitalization in the hiring process for both hospitality organizations and potential employees.
