Applying the positive approach to discipline is really an extension of the coaching process. Coaching and mentoring methods can help hospitality leaders administer discipline in the workplace. For your team, you are not just their manager, you are the leader.

1. In your own words, define coaching, and describe what its goals or aims are. Write a 1-paragraph (4-6 sentences) response.
2. Research coaching techniques, and specifically the "GROW MODEL OF COACHING AND MENTORING. Then, answer each of the following questions. Write 1 paragraph for each question (3 paragraphs total).

• How can a hospitality manager apply coaching techniques and the GROW model to improve the performance of their team?
• How can coaching techniques improve productivity?
• Provide an example of a situation requiring disciplinary action where coaching techniques can be applied to resolve the issue.
