Question:
Forgotten Worlds is a project about representation. Compose an piece that
exposes a current or ongoing underrepresented issue, event, or topic that is not being covered or
represented very well in the media today. This can be a local or global issue that we have
"forgotten" about and an issue that you think should be brought to our attention so to speak.
Collect information on the issue and answer the following media literacy specific questions. You should write out your responses in complete thoughts and paragraphs, but please put a heading (Background, Context, for example) at the start of each section.
1. Background-What is the forgotten story?
2. Context-Media coverage of the forgotten story?
3. Evaluation-Why is the story forgotten?
4. Analysis-What do we know about the story or issue at hand? How has media shaped
what we know?
5. Implication-What are the implications of this event to global politics, society, economy,
culture, humanity, tolerance, progress, etc.,
6. Reflection-To what extent do you think the topic should be covered? Why?
Or if you think it is not relevant to you and your country, why not?
7. Awareness-What would a media literate awareness of this story do to help citizens and
civil society at large?
