- From week 3 lecture, digital media technology is often blamed for social ills. On the surface, contentious topics appear to be about the technology. But on closer look, the issue tends to reflect cultural, moral and value boundaries, societal norms and beliefs. Pick of an example of a contentious issue related to new media technology that is being discussed in the news (HINT: This question requires you to do external research and find an issue discussed in mainstream news. Please provide a citation and include this in your reference list so we know where to find the news source). - Briefly describe your example. Then explain what this example tells us about society's norms, boundaries, values or beliefs. - Pick one of the four affordances of new media. - Provide a definition of the affordance you picked. Find a real-world example that illustrates the affordance and explain its implication of the affordance.
