George is a new server in a section that during meal times is a busy place. This is his first service job since graduating from a school whereservice is taught as a part of the curriculum. The first day, he comes to work a bit early and is assigned a section of tables. He notes otherservers around him are busy in their stations. He, however, studies the menu and goes to the kitchen to introduce himself to the cooks. Hereturns as the place opens up for the dinner hour. A few customers arrive and these tables are quickly waited upon by the other wait staff.

George waits on his customers also, but he notices hes a bit busier than the others. The other serve

rs seem to need to move around less than hedoes to serve the same number of guests. As the place gets busier and busier he feels a lot of pressure to keep up. He has to rush.
