Group Assignment 80%

Working together in groups of 5 put together at random during the module delivery each group/team is to select a project of their choice aimed at solving a challenge confronting, the nation , a community or a corporate entity. Working together as a team, assessed the business case for the project as part of the project charter (Using the Charter Template that has been shared). Teams are then to procced to develop project management plans for scope , stakeholder, communication and change management plans for the project. The charter and the project management and the afore mentioned plans should not exceed 4000 words and constitute 80% of the overall score of the assignment .

The following are sample projects topics aimed at solving challenges at the corporate, community and the national levels. Groups may pick anyone of these as a topic or in consultation with their lecturer come up with acceptable Project Topics to solve challenges in their organisations, community and at the national level.

Students groups are to demonstrate the application of the appropriate Inputs, Tools and Techniques in the planning process.

In order to assess individual effort and contribution to the team, the lecturer shall engage individual members in the groups and the group on the area they are working on at least (3) times before assignment submission.

Lastly, students are required to write individual reflective report (1000- words) as part of this assignment for 20% of overall marks.

The date for the submission of this assignment shall be communicated to students upon receipt of the assignment by students.

Marking Criteria for Group Mark Awarded 80-100 Excellent Report/Presentation must depict application of tools, skills, and techniques to develop the plans, a critical assessment of the business case combined with originality of thought. The techniques, tools and skills and how they were integrated to come up with the plans. The application of tools, skills and techniques must be referenced appropriately. Plans Imust be coherent and flow logically. The report must be coherent demonstrating team effort in putting together the entire report. Very Good Report /Presentation carefully and logically organised. Thoughts and 70-79 lideas clearly expressed. The Write up to an extent should demonstrate a clear understanding of project management methodology, a succinct Jassessment of the business case of the project and sufficient demonstration of understanding and a sufficient proof of team work in coming out with the project plans. Report must show application of tools techniques and skills Good Report /Presentation satisfactory showing organisation and coherence. 60-69 Language mainly fluent. Address the purpose of the assignment, using of appropriate skills, techniques and tools to arrive at project management plans in the given knowledge area Fair Report /Presentation shows an attempt to organise the plans in the given 50-59 khowledge area in a logical manner.
