Apparently, her last menstrual period was two months ago. She had been doing well, and this problem just started today. The patient was placed on the operating table in the lithotomy position, and prepped and draped in the usual manner. Under satisfactory intravenous sedation, the cervix was visualized by means of a weighted speculum and grasped in the anterior lip with a sponge forceps. Cord was prolapsed through the cervix and vagina, and a considerable amount of placental tissue was in the vagina and cervix. This was removed.
