Hello class. This is strange for me. The first chapter we will talk about Chapter 21, titled Collective Behavior and Social Movements I believe is very timely for what we are all going through in these recent, unprecedented times. Ironically, the popular theories on social movements are about how crowds transform and lead to change. In our reality, crowds are a no-no, and all of Keystone is online for the rest of this semester as a means for social distancing. I believe after all is said and done, Heslin will have to add Social movement through social distancing to this chapter, because this reality is a far cry from the literal crowds that are typical in collective movements. Chapter 21 also talks about rumors, panic, mass hysteria, etc. I believe some may have witnessed some of these concepts really recently.

Chapter 22, titled Social Change and the Environment might be pretty timely as well. Could Heslin add to this chapter by outlining what is unfolding right now as the next social revolution? As you read the chapter, you will find that the discussion talks about industrialization, and how there has been a struggle to move our society to a state of harmony. This is a dream time if you are interested in Environmental sociology! In the summary and review in the text, on page 687, it states The goal of harmony is to control industrialization so it doesnt harm the environment, resulting in a world working passing on to the next generation (Heslin, 2019).
