Note: In most cultures, women and children are in charge of walking to collect water for the family. It is not uncommon for women and children to make several trips per day to get a sufficient amount of water for the day's use. Also, this study was on access to water- not access to clean/safe water. Imagine having to walk 3.7 miles round trip to get water that is still contaminated, but it is the nearest source of water to your house
