Hello, this is a Human Resource Functions question for Tell Your HR Story. If you can please help answer questions #1-2 using the peer response A) and B). My Experience is also shown below for comparison. Thank you!
MY EXPERIENCE: An experience my co-worker had with HR about harassment should have been confidential. Therefore, that wasn't the case, the whole warehouse found out what they had discussed in their one-on-one meeting. I know when speaking to HR about anything should be confidential. Others that had found out what HR had done made them feel uncomfortable and including myself not to trust HR. Being in HR, it's their responsibilities to obtain every employee staffs words to be confidential.
One of the day-to-day functions of HR is building a trust with employee concerns about harassment or discrimination from your colleagues, including your manager or any other concern the employee may have when its a work related issued. Also, another function Establishing and Administering Personnel Policies HR activities described so far require fair and consistent decisions and most of all require substantial record keeping. A) Hello! My name is De Ana. I live in Texas and just celebrated 15 years with my company.
I am pursuing a degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology, a field that merges my passion for psychology with my corporate experience. I work for a global company that prioritizes diversity and cross-cultural collaboration, which has sparked my interest in the complexities of creating an inclusive corporate culture.
We have a small by mighty HR department who l most often engage for hiring and performance management. Recently, I went to them with an initiative to re-band (promote) my team to reflect their enhanced roles and daily tasks, which surpassed the original job descriptions. HR completed a detailed analysis of these new responsibilities and compared them both internally and externally with similar roles. Together we successfully restructured the job descriptions, upgraded the band levels, and adjusted the salaries accordingly. This not only benefited my team but also set a precedent for similar adjustments across the company. Thanks to HR's support, the process went smoothly and quickly. This experience was a great example of the importance HR plays in facilitating organizational growth and employee satisfaction.

B) My name is Rachel, I'm from CT and have 2 young boys. Vinny and Angelo. I work full time at a community savings bank and just transitioned out of the retail side to commercial lending. I started my SNHU journey almost 7 years ago when my oldest was born and took a break when I was pregnant with my second. I am now back to finish my degree here at SNHU. I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up and thought that business admin with a focus in HR would be the best route for me. I hope to learn as much as I can and to use what I learn in my day-to-day life. I strive to be the best that I can be especially for my two children.
I had a great experience with my HR department when I went on maternity leave for the company I work for now. She gave me all the information I needed while I was pregnant, from PTO/vacation I needed to save, how the FMLA works, all the way down to checking in on me while I was out on leave and what to expect when coming back. At the same time, I was the guinea pig for the company because our state was putting a new law into effect while I was out on leave. So, I was transitioning from our bank leave to the states leave trying to figure out how it worked, how long it took, what my thoughts were, and HR was with me through every step of the way.
