Dear Professor,

I apologize for the late submission of my paper, which was submitted on Monday. I have always been a hard working student and you have not had any problems with me$.$ The reason this happened was because of an emergency. My grandmother is very old, and she fell from the stairs and broke her legs and an arm.

On hearing the bad news, I could not resist myself and rushed to see her right away. She is still in ICU and in very bad condition. Someone had to stay in the hospital and I was given that responsibility. I know that the deadline is mandatory and I am extremely sorry for that.

I assure you this practice won't happen again as I will complete all my projects before the deadlines. In order to strengthen my point, I have also attached a screenshot of the report on my grandmother which includes the date of her hospitalization.
