Should the government censor websites that contain hate speech?

	I am opposed to censorship in any form. Freedom of speech is one of the key rights that the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms protects, and no one has the right to take it away from Canadians. Besides, who determines what hate speech is? Many people think statements are hateful just because they offend them.
	Hateful websites do cause a lot of problems, but censoring them is not the answer. This just drives hateful groups underground. The solution is education. Our government needs to put more money into online promotional campaigns that promote tolerance and acceptance. These efforts will make hate speech less and less effective.
	Hateful speech is not just words and no one has the right to hurt people in the name of freedom. Whenever a group has been persecuted, hateful speech has always come first. It is the government's role to ensure that all people can live lives free of discrimination, and blocking hateful websites can help with this.
