Instructions:

Recall the scenario from Written Assignment $1,$ involving Jessica Rawls and Patrick Thomas. In this assignment you are being asked to provide feedback to Patrick after he approaches you, as the HR manager, with a draft for a written warning. Your completed assignment is an analysis of this case.

Scenario:

You work at City Hospital, a public, $500-$bed hospital located in Minneapolis. You are the manager of the human resource department, and you have held that position for three years. Patrick Thomas $($accounting supervisor$)$ has approached you and wants to give an employee $($Jessica Rawls$)$ a written warning. Jessica is currently on a Performance Improvement Plan $($PIP$).$ The PIP was developed about two weeks ago and included goals that were to be met over the course of the next $3$ months. Patrick has emailed you a draft of the written warning he wants to present to Jessica. It is attached to this assignment. Patrick must have permission from HR to deliver a written warning and you will need to approve the idea and any final draft of the warning before it is presented.

In your written assignment, address the following:

What information will you need to gather in order to determine if the written warning is appropriate? Given what you know, do you feel the written warning is appropriate?

Is there an alternative course of action that you could encourage Patrick to follow? What would it be and why?

After reviewing Patrick's draft, what specific concerns do you have about the written warning document? Identify at least $3$ issues that need to be improved or adjusted in the document, based on key concepts from class.

If Patrick were to move forward with the written warning as he has drafted it$,$ what concerns would you potentially have about the situation? Explain.
