LH$-$RH Chart:

$1)$ Consider assembling bolts with washers and nuts as given in the following layout diagram.

$($a$)$ Draw LH$-$RH chart of the assembly process using the above given bench layout. Left hand picks up one bolt, brings to center and holds, while the right hand picks up the parts from the other $3$ bins, assembles each item on the bolt and finally the right hand disposes off the assembly in the finished assembly bin.

$($b$)$ Improve upon the above layout and draw a revised LH$-$RH chart.

Flow Process Chart

$2)$ Consider the process of assembling drawers. Three drawer$-$clamp machines put the drawer together by pressing the dovetails in the drawer sides into the slots in the drawer fronts and backs. The drawer subassembly is then placed on a roller line and transported to a stop, where it waits to be placed on a motorized conveyor line. On the conveyor line, the bottom of the drawer is stapled on$,$ drawer guides are installed, and glue blocks are added. The drawers encounter another stop until one of two sanding operators remove them from the conveyor line. The dovetail joints are then sanded on a belt sander and loaded onto a hanger conveyor. The hanger conveyor transports the drawer through a spray booth, where the finish is applied. The finished drawer then winds its way to the chest assembly area, by which time the finish has dried.

a$)$ Construct a Flow Process Chart for the above process.

b$)$ Create an improved method for accomplishing the process. Construct a revised Flow Process Chart to show the improved method and a revised Flow Diagram.
