Good evening everyone I hope you all are doing well. Upon looking at the site one example of fraud that interests me was health care fraud in this case a physician was convicted of a $5 million health care fraud in which he billed Medicare for $5 million in injections he did not actually do. The other example that interests me involved the false claims act in which a healthcare company in Utah submitted false claims to Medicare as well as Medicaid for non covered hospice care.

 

In my opinion, I would say that the coder didn't double-check the information before submitting it or they simply overlooked it. If I was asked to be a part of fraud I was simply tell the person no and I would also go to our superior so that they are aware of what is going on.
