Assignment Description

Employers should publish policies containing guidelines for employees that outline the rules employees are expected to follow. The growing use of technology in the workplace creates both opportunity and risk with relation to policy development.

The purpose of this assignment is to use the knowledge that you have gained in this course, supplemented by technological innovation, to create an effective policy that will provide guidelines to employees, and mitigate risk for the employer.

This assignment is worth $20\%$ of your grade.

Learning Objectives

Discuss employment statues and common law to understand their impact on the business and end$-$to$-$end human resource function.

Propose solutions for complex human resource scenarios through the employee life cycle.

Examine human resource practices and policies to ensure compliance with relevant employment legislation.

Evaluate the legislative risk emerging from the digital workplace

This is an individual assignment. You may collaborate with your peers, and access any resource, however you are expected to submit your work individually.

This assignment has $2$ parts:

Part $1$

You are to select from the following list of Calgary$-$based businesses, and will use an Al generator of your choice to create an Attendance policy for that company. You must address both absence and tardiness. You must ensure compliance with legislation and mitigate employer risk. Please see rubric to understand how this assignment will be graded.

Part $2$

You will be assigned an Al$-$generated policy that was created by one of your classmates. You are to review this policy, and identify risks to the employer, and recommend changes to mitigate those risks.
