This task is to design and implement an American Football Scoreboard using the DESoC board. This project will provide the opportunity for a human operator to post calculate and post scores for both teams based on scoring events observed. The project must be successfully simulated and implemented on the DESoC development board. The designed project must meet the following specifications:
The reset pushbutton is used to start a new game. Each scoring event in the game is represented by switches on the DESoC board.
When the system is reset, then the segment score displays should each show a Unused segment displays should be blank.
Possession Indicator: Display which team has possession of the ball. After any scoring event, the possession arrow should automatically change to the other team. The operator should also be able to choose the possession indicator setting.
Timer: Display timer that counts down from minutes to
Scores: Use the hexadecimal displays on the board for displaying the digit scores for both teams.
Scoring Events:
Touchdown: Worth points. After a touchdown, the team my either attempt an extra point or a twopoint conversion.
Extra Point: Adds point if successful.
TwoPoint Conversion: Adds points if successful.
Field Goal: Worth points.
Safety: Worth points.
Bonus Play Clock up to points: Bonus points are awarded if a play clock is also displayed on the board. If the play clock is implemented, then it should reset to on the segment displays. Note: You will need to add an operator input to start and stop the play clock.
Full credit will be awarded for implementations that fully implement the features in the specifications.
You must design and implement a structural design for this project using DFFs Include the detailed block diagram using gates and basic building blocks for your design in your report. You should justify your design choices in terms of time and space.
