Question:
The proposal should include the following items :
- A little background on the situation
- The purpose of the model and its objective function
- The kinds of data needed as model input (you don't need to supply the data at this point)
- The model's decision variables (at least 3 decision variables are required)
- At least 2 constraints faced by the decision-maker (other constraints may occur to you later)
The proposal should be based on a real business, organizational, or personal problem with which you can obtain data. Avoid modeling something as simple as two-variable LP. preferably a somewhat simpler model built correctly and analyzed thoroughly over a complex model with made-up data that is hard to understand.
A proposal that uses actual data, are rooted in a real situation, and are well written.
Examples of past proposals include the following: (just to have an idea)
· Allocating budget among programmatic video ad options to minimize cost per completed view
· Maximizing the number of opportunities for surfers to catch a wave over 12 surfing trips by car
· Selecting players for an NFL fantasy football team to maximize player points earned per game
