Lesson 1 Parts of the Computer The CPU (Figure 1) is the brain of the computer. It is responsible for making all of the decisions that a computer has to make and also does all of the math operations. The RAM (Figure 2) is the working memory of the computer. It can be thought of as the working or desk space of the computer, the more RAM the bigger the desk space, the more things the computer can open without having to waste time putting other stuff away. The hard drive (Figure 3) is the long term storage of the computer
