I need you to answer this discussion post a state whether you agree or disagree.

It is no doubt in this world that different businesses are ran in different ways. Having unions can be an advantage as well as a disadvantage for the employee. The Union does protect the worker however that often means that there will be fees the employee will need to pay and sometime result in less of a pay. On top of that most unions set wages so even if you are doing a job five times better then someone else, you will get paid the same.

A big advantage for the worker not working for a union is Merit Promotions. As mentioned, union negotiate wages for the workers, which means everyone that is in a specific position will be paid the same no matter how much harder they work. For employees and the business that is a big disadvantage. For the employees standpoint, they could be losing out on extra pay, from performing better or potential. Meaning if they would be with a union ran business they would have to wait till they are with the company for a certain amount of time before getting raises. Meaning no matter how hard they are to work they will not get a raise until they have been with the company for a certain amount of time. Now from the employers stand point, with the union you are unable to reward hard work, good potential and compete with other companies to keep a good prospect. This will make the company potentially lose top prospect as they will be attracted to higher paying employment.(Dontigney, n.d.)

Another advantage for both the employer and employee for a non-union workplace is Individual agreements. The Union will have agreement for everyone to follow. With a non-union workplace the worker and the employer can come to terms with difference wages, benefits package and contract. Meaning the employer can be flexible and adjust for the employee. also the Employee can take this to his advantage and negotiate a better job offer for himself making it more advantage for the employee.(Dontigney, n.d.)

As you can see in both points a non-union workplace is better for both parties, what business wants to let go of a top employee because the union does not allow them to make small changes to contracts or employment offer.
