In Chapter 3, Calavita develops the idea that the law shapes "how we live," "how we talk," and "how we think." Provide an example of this from your own life, or from a recent news story. Try to be creative (and definitely don't just recycle one of the examples Calavita uses).

• In your example, is the law's hegemony prone to resistance, or what she calls "the weapons of the weak"? Why or why not?
