UPS(United Parcel Service) Is a logistical company whose main service is the pick-up and delivery of packages commercially and residential as well. Established in 1907 for a mere $100 and has been around ever since and is now worth over $100 Billion dollars. UPS main headquarters settled in Atlanta, Georgia after relocating from NYC. UPS provides a few different services to include shipping globally with sea, land or air abilities, packaging, labeling, printing, and mailboxes. UPS moves over 24 million packages daily which requires a logistical service to track all of the shipments from an overnight letter to freight weighing hundreds of pounds.

UPS acquired Coyote logistics in 2015 to help with its tracking system and help during the peak business times of the year. With Coyote logistics technology which is a system that helps arrange customers freight on one of their large carrier networks. Through the Coyote network, UPS will provide our combined customer base with an even more seamless supply chain solutions portfolio from multi-modal freight shipments to small-package delivery, said Alan Gershenhorn, UPS executive vice president and chief commercial officer. https://resources.coyote.com/source/ups-acquire-coyote When it is the holiday season UPS sometimes has difficulty keeping up with the demand of packages being shipped so this is where Coyote comes in to lend a helping hand and finds freight trucks that can help with the shipping of packages/freight. The technology used by UPS for their tracking of the over 24 million packages that is being shipped is the best in the world.

Coyote uses a suite of proprietary information technologies that provides market-leading transportation management applications. The company also offers several software applications that customers and transportation providers can easily integrate.

With this technology it helps keep UPS the largest and most trusted logistical company in the world. UPS acquiring this technology pushes them in the right direction to keep growing as a company and expand even farther than they have already. Having the technology, like UPS does, puts UPS in a position that might get hacked by hackers. Having this type of technology could cause a hacker to breack into your system and hold it for ransom or even shut you down. Everything UPS does requires technology. Need it to scan packages when picked up and delivered, need it in warehouses to keep the packages moving in the right direction, track all packages to see where they are in route, it allows customers to track their packages also. Now if UPS system was hacked it could cause the company to lose millions of dollars in a day. UPS technology is what keeps them going, without it they would come to a stand still.

Through the Coyote network, UPS will provide our combined customer base with an even more seamless supply chain solutions portfolio from multi-modal freight shipments to small-package delivery, said Alan Gershenhorn, UPS executive vice president and chief commercial officer. https://resources.coyote.com/source/ups-acquire-coyote
