In your first discussion board you should consider the difference between a simple random sample and a sample of convenience. Each student should create a thread where you pose a situation in which a simple random sample would be difficult and describe why it would be difficult. For example, in class we discussed a situation where a construction engineer received a shipment of 1000 concrete blocks, each weighing about 50 pounds. The engineer wanted to measure the crushing strength of 10 random blocks. A simple random sample would be difficult here because the engineer could select 10 random blocks, and of those random blocks the engineer may have to move many 50 pound blocks to get to the center of the pile or the middle of the pile. Here, the simple random sample would be difficult. I Then, you should look at your classmates posed situations and comment on 2 of your classmates posts and suggest a way to perform a sample of convenience for their situation. Here, you will have to consider what you would do for convenience in the situation, as there is typically no right or wrong answer! For example, with the engineer situation posed in class, a sample of convenience could be done by simply selecting the 10 closest blocks to the engineer. Or, another way could be selecting the 10 blocks on the top of the pile so that you don't have to move unnecessary blocks
