The instructor will review your outline and provide feedback. During this stage, I recommend scheduling an appointment with the Angelo State University Writing Center. They offer services, including helping you understand and develop your topic, rotining your research skills, formulating a thesis, and formatting your references and paper. Please see this Samplo Outline to help you develop your outline. Answer: I will select the Planning Function of management as the primary function of Management. Planning refers to deciding in advance, what is to be done? When is to be done? How is to be done and whom is to be done? Planning is the foundation for any organisation. It defines obejctives and goals of organisaion as a whole. It is futuristic in nature. Planning is basis for other functions of management. Planning defines the overall end objectives of the organization and also defines short term plans to achieve the end goals. Every other functions like orgsnizing, staffing, directing and controlling is executed on the line of planning function. Every other functions are executed to obtain results and aceiving goals which are decided in Planning Function. Hence planning function is the basis of all other functions. . Planning Function of the management is the essence of management. Without Planning there is no existence of other functions of Management. Other functions will have no target or no direction. Without objectives and goals management is nothing like an open road without an end. Planning is the basis for all other functions. All other functions have no value without planning. Other functions are not of any use without planning. Planning consists objectives and goals of the organization and a roadmap for achieving these goals by performing other functions of management. What are you writing about? Tell your reader what you are going to say. b. Here, you need to hook the reader in. Define "Four Day Workweek" ii. Define "Productivity". What does it mean to be productive? d. Tell the reader how you will structure your paper. Provide a "road map" for the rest of your research paper. II. Body Paragraphs (1-3 paragraphs) a. Provide background about your topic. b. Bring in outside sources that discuss your topic. For example, on this topic, I might discuss the different viewpoints about the four-day work week. What does the literature say in favor of the four-day workweek? What does the literature say against a four-day workweek? c. Reminder - Do not bring in anecdotal information or insert your own viewpoint. This is a research paper, so only the literature has a voice. d. This section is the meat of your research paper. Here, you will present all the information that you want your reader to know about your topic. III. Discussion a. After presenting multiple pieces of information in the body paragraphs, you want to synthesize this information in the discussion. Basically, you took out all of the puzzle pieces in the body paragraphs. Now, you will assemble the puzzle for your reader in the discussion. b. How do the different sources of literature relate to one another? c. Also, how do the different sources relate to management? d. Why should managers care about this topic? e. What do managers really need to know about this topic, and why? IV. Conclusion a. In the introduction, you said what you were going to say. In the body paragraphs, you said what you wanted to say. In the conclusion, you will remind the reader what you said. b. The conclusion should answer the following two questions: What do I need to know about vour topic? Why does it matter for managers?
