Instructions:

Select a process that currently exists within your professional or personal life that needs improvement. (Examples: Monthly Budget Process, Weekly Supply Order) The selected process should provide opportunities for process redesign and be significant enough to merit your time and efforts.

Once you have selected the process complete the Four Steps of the Feedback Control Model shown below to evaluate and improve the selected process.

Requirements:

Your analysis must contain each of the sections listed below:

Process Description -- This description should provide an overview of the current process, the steps required and the time and frequency requirements of the process.

Suggested Process Improvement -- Redesign the existing process to improve quality and/or efficiency. A flow chart may work well for this section

Completion of Steps -- Provide a detailed account of the completion of each of the steps below.

1. Establish Standards of Performance -- Develop a set of standards by which you will measure the efficiency of the new process. These standards should be both time and quality based.
2. Measure Actual Performance -- Complete the new process in a real or test environment and record the results.
3. Compare Performance to Standards -- Compare the results of at least 2 completed process runs to the Standards of Performance to determine areas for improvement
4. Take Corrective Action -- You need to complete this step at least once. It isn't uncommon to have to repeat this step numerous times.
5. Redo Steps until Standards of Performance are met

Reflection -- Describe the results of the project, consider the positive and negative aspects to this approach and discuss how you could utilize this process in other aspects of your life.
