Intermediaries are important because they provide the flow from the producer to the consumer. Intermediaries accomplish this through performing three functions including a transactional function, a logistical function, and facilitating functions. Transactional functions is the relatively straightforward relationship of the movement of goods or services (Kerin & Hartley, 2022). Logistical functions are those which includes gathering, sorting, or dispersing the goods or services (Kerin & Hartley, 2022). The facilitating function is where the intermediary makes it easier for the transactions to occur in the first place (Kerin & Hartley, 2022).
I believe that large businesses rely more heavily on the logistical functions of the business. On a larger scale, logistics gain more and more importance. In a small business, transactional functions and facilitating functions become more important. This is because smaller businesses rely heavily on their initial attraction to the public. Focusing more on facilitating an easy transaction is more important to gaining speed in business.
