Introduction

The maxim "Structure follows strategy" was initially introduced through the seminal work of Chandler. (1977). In essence, the structure of an organization is akin to the skeleton of the body. As such, structure identifies how the company organizes the flow of information, what the the major inputs and outputs of its processes, the formation of departments and what reporting relationships will consist of.

The purpose of this learning activity is to identify criteria to guide your decision making as it relates to organizational design for MNCs.

Initial Post Instructions

Consider a fast-food chain going into Brazil. Respond to the following prompts:

1. Discuss your initial level of desired involvement in Brazil and your entry strategy.
2. Briefly explain what the appropriate organizational design will look like, taking into account strategic goals, relevant variables in Brazil, technology used, size of the firm, and so on.
