Jack is a software engineer at ABC Games, a large video game software developer. Jack auditioned and was offered to be a participant in the AMC television series "60 Days In". In the series, volunteers are incarcerated as undercover prisoners for 60 days. To make it look like they are legitimate inmates, the Sherriff arrests each participant and brings to the Jail for booking/intake. The Walnut Herald sees Jack being "arrested" and runs the following story in the Herald the next day: "Jack is a criminal that preys on the elderly and steals their money - Lock him up!" Because of this fabricated story, Jack is no longer accepted in his community and is immediately fired from his job at ABC Games. Jack sues the Herald for defamation.
