Level 1 WBS for a construction project is given here:
- An empty building exists with a large hall type room on floors 1, 2 and 3. Your company has rented 2nd and 3rd floors for office space while shopping center needs to be located on floor 1. Parking lot needs to be finished in the empty basement (floor 0).
You will need to decide who is to be located on floor 2 and who should be located on floor 3.
- For floors 2-3 (Level 1 WBS activities)
- Administrators office (President, Vice-President, Manager, Assistant manager, group leaders)
- Secretary office one for President, one for Vice-President, and one for the rest of managers and leaders
- Employees offices to house 200 employees
- Facilities to house copier, printer, coffee, vending machines, and other daily needs
- Drafting room
- Appropriate restrooms
Answer the following questions:
- For all level 1 activities, decompose them down to the level at which the lowest-level activities can be completed.
- Estimate duration, cost, and resource requirements for above part of the WBS. Please state any assumptions you have to make in order to complete this assignment
- Construct the project network diagram (Precedence chart). Calculate earliest start, earliest finish, latest start, and latest finish and critical path. Prepare a table similar to the one in the text book. If the project is not completed in 4 months, compress the schedule using the tools defined in the text book.
As project manager, what assumptions have you made about resources that will give you a good chance to bring this project in on time? Is overstaffing a possibility in anticipation of no-shows? How do you plan for overstaffing? Give your cost for your resources and show when they will be used on the current WBS
