Sometimes it is good to look at a lager business for an example. Many decades ago, Sears use to own all or most of its store locations and real estate -- even the Sears tower in Chicago. However, they determined that property management was not their chief business nor their expertise. They also needed more cash to expand locations. So, they sold their properties and leased them back -- including the Sears tower. This made available two great avenues for Sears -- 1) they got out of the property management business, 2) they received a huge infusion of cash for expansion.

This all happened many years ago - -Sears has a new set of issues currently, but looking at their past gives some perspective about selling components of one's business!
