An experimental psychologist thought there was a relationship between people's problem solving ability and their parents' attitudes toward authority. In addition, the psychologist thought that anxiety might affect problem solving ability. In this experiment, 9 participants were chosen whose parents were very strict, and 9 were chosen whose parents were more relaxed. Anxiety was assessed in the participants by a questionnaire before they began the experiment and they were categorized by high, medium, or low anxiety. The number of solutions to the problem that each participant generated was recorded and reported in the table below, where high scores (high number of solutions) meant the participant did well on the task. Use a factorial ANOVA to analyze whether there are effects of parenting style on problem solving, effects of anxiety on problem solving, and an effect of the interaction between parenting style and anxiety on problem solving.
