Material requirements planning (MRP) was originally developed using discrete orders to create production plans. The just-in-time (JIT) concept, on the other hand, was adopted to smooth out and speed up the operations. Some argued that JIT would replace the MRP system. Despite these differences, many companies still use MRP tools to create and manage the production plans in JIT manufacturing. Please provide and briefly describe why there could be advantages of using the MRP system in JIT manufacturing.
