Assignment Overview

Project Management is a critical skill in various fields, encompassing the planning, executing, and overseeing of

projects. To manage a project effectively, it will be necessary for you to use techniques for breaking down a

project into tasks, scheduling those tasks, assigning people and other resources to accomplish those tasks, and

so on$.$

This assignment is designed to enhance your ability to manage projects by understanding and applying key

concepts such as time estimation, Gantt charts, and network diagrams. These tools and techniques are vital for

breaking down complex projects into manageable tasks, scheduling these tasks, and allocating the necessary

resources for their completion.

Note: this is an individual assignment. Although you may brainstorm ideas with other students, each student

must turn in their own individual work.

Process

$1.$ Calculate the Expected Time for Each Task using Table $1($shown below$)$:

$$ For this task, you are required to calculate the expected time for a series of tasks $($A$,$ B$,$ C$,$ D$,$ E$),$

each with specified Optimistic, Pessimistic, and Most Likely Time durations.

$$ This task will test your ability to apply project management concepts in estimating task

durations, which is a fundamental aspect of project planning and scheduling.

$2.$ Draw a Network Diagram and Gantt Chart using Table $2($shown below$)$:

$$ The second task involves creating a network diagram and a Gantt chart for a given set of tasks

$($A$,$ B$,$ C$,$ D$,$ E$,$ F$,$ G$,$ H$,$ I, J$,$ K$),$ with each task having a defined expected duration and preceding

events.

$$ You are advised to first practice these diagrams by hand for a better understanding and then use

an automated tool like MS Project or PowerPoint for the final submission.

$$ Additionally, you are required to fill in details such as the Earliest Finish $($EF$),$ Latest Finish $($LF$),$

slack, and identify the critical path for these tasks.

$$ This task is designed to assess your ability to visually represent project timelines and
