Mr. Bahner ordered and obtained a bottle of wine with his meal at 11:30pm. Unfamiliar with the province's liquor laws, he grew surprised when he was told that he had to consume the entire bottle of wine by midnight. He had not even opened the bottle. With just a few minutes remaining, he left it and refused to pay for it. He paid for the meal, but not the wine. A manager and a security guard prevented him from leaving the restaurant. The manager called the police while Mr. Buhner was detained at the restaurant. Subsequently, the police arrested Mr. Buhner and he spent the night in jail.
