On the other hand, decentralization is the process of systematically delegating power and authority throughout the organization to middle and lower level managers. Keeping these definitions in mind, consider the following two scenarios

Scenario

Scenario 1 Youre the top manager in a large organization with a long and successful history of centralized operations. You have decided to make the firm more decentralized.

Scenario 2 Assume the exact opposite of the situation in scenario 1. You still occupy the top spot in your organization, but this time youre going to centralize operations in the organization that has always been decentralized.
