PUT IT TO WORK Flexible hours you work for Cabrera Manufacturing, which has 1,400 employees in three locations. Several department heads have ap- proached management about the possibility of offering flexible working hours for employees (hours are currently 8 a.m. to 5p.m.). Manage- ment has formed a committee of employees from different areas of the company to gather information from all employees and particularly to consider what sort of flextime arrangement employees would like. You are the co-leader of this committee and represent mostly other admin- istrative professionals. How will you gather information from the em- ployees and department managers? What questions would you ask each group? How do other companies use flexible schedules? Form a committee with two to four fellow students, do some research on flextime, and develop a plan for how your committee will complete this assignment. If you will use a survey, write sample questions. Your plan will be reviewed by the senior vice president for employee affairs (your instructor), so do a thorough job. (Learning Objective 5)
