One strategy that I learned in class would be my own self-reflection. I've always looked at a child's behavior as something going on with them and in their mind, not really thinking about other influences like my own behavior. As a sub, sometimes working in different classes just my presence without their lead teacher is enough to make behaviors present themselves. I've come to understand this and use it in how I address behaviors. I've also been more aware if I'm being short with them or if I didn't sleep well the night before, things that influence my own behavior that then influences theirs. I then check my myself before I go about approaching them. I can use it for later on in the future
