Use the simulation templates provided to simulate a system with 3 tellers in the following two scenarios:
In one sheet assume there is a single queue, and everyone is served First Come First Served (FCFS)
In another assume that there is a queue for each teller
Assume customers join the 3 queues cyclically that is first to queue 1, second to queue 2, third to queue 3, fourth to queue 1, fifth to queue 2, etc.
Simulate 100(one hundred) customer arrivals using excel. Compare the performance under the two service rules.
The main trick is to keep track which server gets free first and direct the customer to that server. I show in the sample sheet, a variable called who helps. For first come first served, who = who is free first. In cyclic, who takes values 1,2,3,1,2,3,...
Generate 100 inter-arrival times using data data analysis random number generation. Do the same for service times. The rest of the accounting is automated. For each type (FCFS and cyclic) compute the average waiting time and average time in system. Comment briefly on what you observe.
