Diagnosis System Example: Diagnose faults in a PC based on observed malfunctions Diagnose faults in a car/bike based on observed malfunctions Prognosis Example: Predict weather conditions based on observations and recorded patterns Predict stock market prices based on observations and recorded patters Configuration Example: Construct PC/car/bike configuration for clients based on preferences/constraints Recommendation Systems Example: Recommend job opportunities to graduate students based on their preferences and capabilities Recommend investments to clients based on their status (financial etc.) and needs, and on the market trends Recommend package holidays to clients based on their status and preferences From the domain of KBS listed above, choose only ONE (1) system. Below are the details for assignment task. Task 1: The first task of the assignment is to acquire the knowledge needed and simply represent some important rules in first order logic. For this task, you may use any equivalent form. If appropriate, you can translate a single sentence into multiple rules. List as many rules as possible (min 5 rules). Example 1: Diagnosis system for analysing the fault of computer rules in English sentences: 1. All computer must have antivirus software installed. i. If antivirus program does not start and it is installed then computer is infected with virus or license has expired ii. If computer cannot boot then there is a disk error 2. Few computers have Internet connection i. If cannot connect to Internet then modem is faulty or phone line is down 3. Etc. Task 2: You will need to represent the knowledge from Task 1 using semantic network or frames.
