Part 1: Preparation & Topic Proposal (10%) DUE April 3,11:59 pm
Review Chapter 4 of the textbook and the recorded lecture by Robin Cook Bondy on the RACE Planning process in Module 3.
Topic Proposal Instructions:
The communication plan is written using the RACE planning formula and is a key tool used in the Public Relations profession. Once you have completed the above preparation, you will propose a topic for your communications plan. The purpose is to convince the instructor that you have a viable scenario for your communication (public relations) plan. Your plan can be for: a launch event, an issue, an education campaign, a political campaign, government announcement, or the scenario of your choice.
DO NOT SUBMIT A COMPLETE COMMUNICATIONS PLAN AT THIS STAGE.
Note: You must choose a specific organization as your client. No large corporations are allowed (e.g. Nike, Apple, Amazon, Tesla). You must choose a local business or organization that one of your group members has a personal connection to or would like to be connected to. Think about community centers, restaurants, bakeries, independent retail shops, gyms, non-profit organizations such as Big Brothers or advocacy groups like the Sustainabiliteens.
Your Topic Proposal must include the following three elements:
1. The client you have chosen to focus your plan on (local organization or business). State your personal connection or why you admire/are interested in this organization. An outline of the scenario (situation analysis) with an explanation of the problem/opportunity your plan will address e.g. Kwantlen Student Association (client) has a low number of volunteers (problem). It would like to get more students involved in the organization (plan will focus on raising awareness and engagement).
2. Research: Provide a brief description of the organization, where it is located, who it serves, and a few background details (company vision & mission, goals), how the plans objectives will link to the organizations goals, and any further research you will need to conduct to complete your Situational Analysis.

4. Technology: Which technology you will use to deliver your presentation and acknowledgement that you have fully tested it including having all your team members use it and present with it.
