Part 1-Reflection proposal

The organization conducted a program with three volunteers where our main work was to mobilize women of the community and provide information to them about Girl child Education, malnutrition, and hygiene. There were approximately 15 women. we were standing and conveying them the information. During the beginning of the session all women were talking and was not paying attention. So, i used the silence treatment technique to have their attention. After this, i used other effective communication techniques like involving them in the discussion to boost their confidence to increase their participation. i also used nonverbal hand gestures to make them understand some of the information. Even the visual communication was also done using the specific set of pictures. Then we asked them for their feedback about the session. These were the techniques used during the whole session.

There are barriers which volunteers faced during the interaction

Communication Barriers

Language barrier - Most of the time volunteers conveyed information in English. The women who were present their were not used to English and found it hard to grasp the information. That is why visual communication was included.

Gender Barrier The Volunteers observed this when they asked them questions and for their feedback. They are not that comfortable with strangers because of orthodox social constructs. It was difficult to convey the message to them as most of them were very hesitant and nervous.

Cultural Difference - The cultural difference was clearly visible, and the volunteers find it hard to make them understand something which is seen as a taboo in their culture
