CLASSMATE POST:
The objective of commercials is to get the consumers to remember the advertised brands name (OGuinn, Allen, Close Scheinbaum, & Semenik, 2019). Liberty Mutuals slogan is Only pay for what you need (Liberty Mutual Website), which is a catchy slogan and a lot of people remember that slogan based off the multiple commercials of an Emu and Doug. Liberty Mutual commercials are one of the most annoying ones because they lack substance. The commercials also dont really contain much creativity. Most of their commercials do not contain known actors or actresses which makes their commercials not as memorable. Most of their commercials do not always get the point across on what their company actually does. Other insurance ads and commercials tend to create commercials that involve what their company actually helps with. The repetitiveness of the slogans is what also turned me away from liking the commercials. I think the advertising company was trying to incorporate humor into their commercials but did not succeed in their attempts. I also do not think that Liberty Mutual persuades the people watching it to join their company due to their poor advertisements and commercials. In researching the commercials, I found a lot of people who feel the same way about how annoying and poor these commercials actually are. In the article, Liberty Mutual was numbered second of the top ten companies with the most annoying commercials.
