Chapter 9 quick summary ---There was quite a lot of information that was told. This chapter talked about math skills as well as negotiation skills. This chapter also mentioned the gender differences and the personality traits which is something new we are now exploring. Men are always expected to be able to do something when women are always given that doubt which isn't so fair. In regards to recognitions, in big companies, the Men are always well recognized and awarded with different positions but women don't have these opportunities. This chapter also went on to talk about a family earning gap which is new we talked a lot about the men and women now we are discussing the family as a whole. It went on to explain how women have greater chances of leaving a job because of family responsibilities or husbands moving for a new job and these things which are why women are less likely to get a job than men. Then this chapter goes on to talk about psychological attributes differing between genders. It states that psychological attributes differ between men and women and this is a big factor for women in the labor market. This chapter also mentioned 2 new definitions I didn't know before which were the general on the job training and the firm-specific on the job training and they are pretty straight forward general on the job training can be used at any job and firm-specific training is only for that one specific company you are working at. Something I had never realized and caught my eye was that the book mentioned women to be more risk-averse than men which affects there labor market rates.
