Please help!! im not great with excel, could someone walk me through the steps of using Solver in excel to solve this problem.

Here is the instructions:

The purpose of this assignment is for you to understand the algorithms used to determine what product to ship from whom and where based on the costs of shipment.

This is an important factor in supply chain management. The product is transported from a number of sources to a number of destinations at the minimum possible cost and each source is able to supply a fixed number of units.

Each destination has a fixed demand. Companies never ship more than demand, so if supply is greater than demand, it remains at the source.

You will be using a linear programming application, Solver, which is an add-on to excel.

Task

Part 1)

-Complete the following problem. See below for the link to this template.(Ive provided two images of the temple, both in excel and as a pdf)

-Systems Unlimited sells personal computers to universities and colleges on the East Coast and ships them from three distribution warehouses. The firm is able to supply the following numbers of computers to the universities by the beginning of the academic year. (See file) Four universities have ordered computers that must be delivered and installed by the beginning of the academic year. (See file) The shipping and installation costs per computer are provided in the file.

-Determine the shipments that will minimize total costs.

-How many computers will Richmond provide to Central? (2 pts)

Steps:

- Solve using and based off given template.

-Do not alter this template, it makes grading difficult, and alterations are not needed.

- Add in the formulations needed in a excel spreadsheet.

-Open solver and complete all the necessary fields.

-Run solver.

Part 2)

-Complete problem #2, Using the same file create two new worksheets and alter the problem based on the new constraints. Label the worksheets alternative 1 and alternative 2. Which alternative should management select based solely on transportation costs?

Systems Unlimited wants to meet demand more effectively at the four universities it supplies. It is considering two alternatives.

-Expand its warehouse at Richmond to a capacity of 800 at a cost equivalent to an additional $6 in handling and shipping per unit.

-Purchase a new warehouse in Charlotte that can supply 200 units with shipping costs of $19 to Tech, $26 to A&M, $22 to State and $16 to Central.
