This assignment will give you the opportunity to compose a routine, good news message, following the direct approach. Follow the 3 x 3 writing process, including the five C's of business writing. Use the online text, chapter video presentation, and resources posted. You will also have the opportunity to review two submissions from your peers. Routine Message - 100 points; Two Peer Reviews - 20 points (10 points each). Peer review points are included in a separate grade book entry.
Part 1
Select one of the following scenarios:
As an employee of your local library, write a letter to new, local residents welcoming them to your growing community, and to make them aware of what the library has to offer. Include the library's hours, resources, information, community services, and activities provided for children and adults.

Part 2
In preparing the message, answer the 12-question checklist, in Section 5.2 of your text, and address the who, what, where, when, why, and how elements of the message. Include your responses to both of these on Page 1 of your submission.
Part 3
Once the prewriting, planning, and research portion of the message is complete, compose your message, on page 2 of your submission, in a one-page maximum letter or email, depending on the scenario selected. Your message should include three, full paragraphs (5-7 complete sentences in each paragraph) and correct business document formatting (see links included in these instructions or guidelines posted). Be sure to follow writing assignment specifics noted below.

Submit your completed assignment in this drop box. Once the due date has passed, Canvas will assign two messages for you to complete your peer reviews. Complete the peer review rubric provided and at least two comments (two complete sentences) in the comment sidebar, to support the scores you have given. Peer reviews are due by Sunday, March 7 at 11:59 p.m., CST.
