He could purchase Equipment A for $$300,000$ which would allow him to produce units at $$4/$unit and would only require $3$ employees to provide support, each with an average salary of $$60,000.$

He could also purchase Equipment B for $$400,000$ which would allow him to produce units at a cost of $$3\mathrm{.}50/$Unit and would only require $2$ employees to provide support, each with an average salary of $$75,000.$

Derrick's final option is to purchase Equipment C for $$1,000,000.$ This would allow for the cheapest cost of production $($$$2\mathrm{.}50/$Unit$)$ and would only need to be overseen by a single employee making $$120,000/$Year$.$
