Please help me to solve this question using Excel (This class mainly uses solver function):
Derrick is deciding between 4 different equipment options.
He can keep his current equipment which produces units at an average cost of $5/Unit. However, it requires significant support staff for maintenance purposes. This requires 5 employees with an average salary of $50,000 per year.
He could purchase Equipment A for $300,000 which would allow him to produce units at $4/unit and would only require 3 employees to provide support, each with an average salary of $60,000.
He could also purchase Equipment B for $400,000 which would allow him to produce units at a cost of $3.50/Unit and would only require 2 employees to provide support, each with an average salary of $75,000.
Derrick's final option is to purchase Equipment C for $1,000,000. This would allow for the cheapest cost of production ($2.50/Unit) and would only need to be overseen by a single employee making $120,000/Year.
If Derrick decides to purchase a new piece of equipment the old equipment may be resold for $50,000
Derrick is unsure what his level(s) of production will be but would like a spreadsheet model that would allow him to compare performance given various equipment lifespans and levels of production. (All 4 models should share those input cells)
