The concepts of optimism-and-pessimism-concern people's expectations for the future. Dispositional optimism refers to the tendency to expect positive outcomes in the future. Dispositional pessimism-refers-to-the-tendency to-expect negative outcomes in the future. These variables are commonly measured by the Life Orientation Test-Revised-(LOT-R). Higher scores on the LOT-R-suggest a more optimistic outlook -The- professoris interested in testing whether individual differences in college students' disposition affect their locus of control.
