A change that I see a need on my current project is the simplification and improvement of the customer ordering change request process that leads to better and faster decision-making. This is important because the purpose of the project is a new software implementation to manage customer orders and manufacturing to accommodate them. The simplification of processes could allow better utilization of the software providing faster outputs and decision making without as many personnel touches. These decisions could also be prioritized by customer priority and revenue opportunity to provide incremental benefits.

Organizations involved in this process improvement may be hesitant to dedicate resources to it, however, remembering that this can be an iterative process may bring those leaders minds to ease (Lecture Notes, 1). The change that is looking to be put into place must also tie into the companies core values (DiFranza, 2). This concept is a part of transformational leadership, which would be used to remind these organizations and their leaders that there is a long-term common goal for all groups that provides benefits for everyone involved (DiFranza, 2).

While stakeholders may be resistant to allocating resources, many of the execution-level employees who do this work will likely be excited to see a decrease in their workload and better utilization of the available software. To showcase this excitement, the project managers can utilize change ambassadors, who are excited to remind people the long-term and overarching benefits of this work (Warrell, 2). This can be managers who oversee excited employees, or excited employees themselves to remind the leaders to keep the momentum moving forward.
