Apex Marketing Services is a Vancouver company that has been in business for 25 years. It is a family-owned company with 25 employees. There are 16 employees between the age of 21 and 32 who have been with the company for an average of 5 years and 9 employees who are over the age of 50 and have over 20 years experience. The company offers public relations and advertising services to real estate companies in Vancouver. In the last three years Apex has been slowly losing customers. So the owners, without first talking to employees, decided on the following change management plan: Starting immediately, all employees will work 10 hours a day, 40 hours a week (4 workdays) instead of 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week (5 workdays). Some will work Monday to Thursday, some with work Tuesday to Friday, and others will work Wednesday to Saturday. Instead of having four separate units at work (research, public relations, advertising, and copy writing with a manager for each), there will now be four teams set up. Each team will have one person each from the old four units, overseen by a "team leader. The term manager" will no longer exist.
